THE ATTITUDE ROBOTS “We Shall Overcompensate” (Crass Lips Records)

The Attitude Robots are scuzzy no wavers who, ahem, “overcompensate” for, I dunno, some vitamin deficiency, maybe, with a long list of hijinks that include instructions on getting dressed, the end of a list of complaints where computers are prevalent, “things,” and demands to not be messed with. To say that the Attitude Robots are clever would be accurate. To say that they are consistently interesting and entertaining, putting that cleverness to good use, would also be accurate.

Over fourteen weird jaunts through the throes of rhythm and songwriting, where these two concepts are almost constantly dry heaving into oblivion, “We Shall Overcompensate” does just that: stares inadequacy in the eye and goes for broke x 10. You gotta hand it to this nutty trio: they aren’t lacking for energy or ideas, and they’re quite brave in their execution. They’re like a runaway train, never coming back; wrong way on a one-way track. Gosh, that’s good – I should write a song about that.
